Character Information
Character Journal: [personal profile] dirge
Character Name: Dirge
Character Canon: Transformers Animated
Age: His body is only around 5 or 6 years old but his mind is that of an adult cybertronian.
Race: Cybertronian.
Timeline Pull Point: Sir not actually appearing in his canon's show. He has a toy bio and an Allspark Almanac description. So. I'm taking him Re/Al anyhow.

Canon History: Dirge isn’t old enough to have much of a backstory. He is a clone that was created by Swindle along with Thrust. The official way he managed to do this is a little sparse, so I’ve filled it in with head canon that makes sense. Starscream was keeping two protoforms and two slivers from his all-spark fragment set aside on the moonbase for activating later. When he died, Swindle, being the little looter that he is, found the base and took the stuff, enabling him to create the two clones. Dirge was working on Swindle’s ship as one of his body guards until he was transported to Axiom Nexus. More about his exploits there in the CRAU section.

CRAU History: Axiom Nexus canon experience: Dirge comes from Axiom Nexus- another dimension in which Cybertron has never been at war and the species has evolved into Transtechs- an amalgamate of technological and organic. While there, Dirge worked for an alternate universe Megatron nicknamed Magnum. His biggest priority was finding a way to complete his fractured personality. For a long time he believed that a spark was the necessary missing component and had various mishaps trying to obtain one of his own. Along the way, Shockwave picked him up for modification, giving him the ability to eat and gain sustenance from organic material as well as his normal diet. Experience over time and small bits of guidance from other mechs have managed to calm Dirge somewhat. He’s still insatiably greedy but he’s learned to be a little shrewd about it and how to prioritize his never ending list of wants.

The Lambda in Re/Al picked him up next, so instead of getting transported home, Dirge was sent to a new Cybertron. While there, he was initially aligned with Liege, although his endless search for energy eventually pushed him toward Nexus's quadrant. He mostly sorted and hoarded things from the junkpile and occasionally got impaled on sharp rocks.

Personality: All of the clones have one aspect of their template’s personality. Dirge’s happens to be Starscream’s greed. His main goal in life is to take whatever he can get- physical possessions, experiences, titles, praise- it doesn’t matter what it is, he wants it. Having things is very important to him- his self worth is pretty much based on what he has acquired. Having nothing is akin to being nothing.

Speaking of not having things, Dirge’s lack of some of Starscream’s other traits defines his personality as well. He doesn’t have any of Starscream’s ego to keep him from acting in a debasing manner in his pursuit of the object of his desire. He has no natural or learned shame because of his young age, nor any moral standing to keep him from doing whatever it takes. Morality is impossible when one is only interested in their own feelings. Worse than that, he lacks most of the common beliefs that a Transformer would learn over their lifetime from society. Dirge has a fully functional adult body and a processor programmed with the essentials- but he’s only been /alive/ around 3 years. That amount in transformer years is barely an eyeblink. Because he has not been in the company of others of his species for very long Dirge is often interested in doing things that are viewed as improper or even disgusting by other Cybertronians.

He also doesn’t have Starscream’s fear, that yellow streak that serves as survival instinct. Dirge is incredibly passionate in his desire which makes him impatient and prone to brash behavior. He doesn’t enjoy pain or death but he will go through both if it means he gets what he wants. He has a crazy determination born of greed, the kind that drove his creator to try and overthrow Megatron again and again.

Being a clone with one dominating personality trait is difficult. In order to function, Dirge often has to rework things into his own twisted logic- changing anything that implies giving into taking. An example would be that he would refuse to become anyone’s student (therefore belonging to them), but he would agree to have someone as his teacher (possessing them instead).

Because of his time in Axiom, Dirge has become aware that his lack of a more stable personality is detrimental. He can’t necessarily always help it- but he does want to try and overcome that which his shard compels him to do- thus why he seeks outside influence to try and solve his problem.

Powers/Abilities: General abilities include: Being able to turn into futuristic harrier jet and two sonic pulse cannons on his arms.
Special abilities are a little stranger. In Axiom Nexus, Dirge was taken by the Transtech Shockwave and experimented on- leaving him with the ability to consume almost anything- organic or inorganic. He is also powered by an all-spark shard, instead of a spark, which has the ability to revive him, should he die. I don’t know if you want to nerf that or what.

Inventory: NOTHING. SUFFER DIRGE, SUFFER.

Writing Samples

First Person Sample:

[The comm flicks on to a very disgruntled looking jet, sitting with his wrists and wings bound. The four surrounding walls in the background are close together and unadorned. The presence of bars off to one side makes it obvious that Dirge is confined to a cell. ]

I want out of here! My wings are cramping and they don’t feed me near enough. [He scowls, claws making little ineffectual grasping motions.]

Besides- I haven’t even done anything this time! Last thing I remember is passing out in my office at the Casino… and then waking up in this fragging place. [Grumble]

No one better be touching my stuff while I’m stuck here. I find one thing missing and I’ll break the offender’s fingers off. And keep them. [Hiss]

[The jet sighs and pulls dejectedly at his bonds] Magnum, if you can hear this- hurry up and bust me out of here… [He whines, giving the camera his best pair of big pleading optics plus pout.]

Third Person Sample:

Dirge was used to being punished if he’d done something wrong. Working for Magnum had made it very clear to him that if he intended to behave badly, he better devise a way not to get caught. Sometimes, the punishment was even worth it, if the pay off was large enough. But none of that applied here. He was being punished for no reason- or at least, not a reason that he could discern- and that made him angry. Taking his freedom when he had not done anything to warrant it was not acceptable.

The jet groaned and squirmed, trying to achieve a position that relieved the pressure on his wings. The endeavor was futile as the cuffs only rubbed worse whenever he moved. He wanted to fly. He wanted to go check on his hoard. Most of all, he wanted to eat something. Anything. The small cube they handed him through the bars twice a day only made his tanks ache for more. He’d tried everything he could think of on his guards- threatening, pleading, seduction… Nothing worked. And so the only thing that was consumed remained his processor by thoughts of food.

The worst part really was that he couldn’t do anything about his situation. No matter how much rage or misery the loss of his freedom inspired, he could not take it back. And that rankled. It wormed its way around his chamber and made his shard grow unpleasantly warm. If he could not find a way out, he feared he might go mad from being unable to fulfill what his very core told him he must. Reclaim lost possessions. Amass more possessions. Consume. The best Dirge could do was try to console himself with small things. He was still gaining time…recharge…experiences… but it wasn’t enough. Gritting his dentals, the clone turned on his communicator and set it to the appropriate channel to record a message. Magnum would get him out of this. And then he’d go find an entire restaurant to eat.

Character Information
Character Name: Dirge
Canon: Transformers Animated
Canon Point: Technically he doesn't have one since he is a toy bio only character.
Is your character Dead, Undead or Alive: Sort of undead? He doesn't have a spark that animates him like most Transformers, but a piece of the Allspark instead. Shards of the Allspark are capable of giving machines and empty cybertronian body shells life.
History: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Dirge_(Animated) A bit sparse, but that is literally all there is. Dirge and his brother Thrust were created by Swindle using Starscream's CNA and bits of the Allspark. They were made to be the merchant's bodyguards, traveling with him on his ship around the galaxy on business deals. As strong as Dirge is, sadly he seems to be a bit of a hassle, considering his personality trait, for Swindle. The merchant has been quoted trying to sell him and his brother before.
Personality:

All of the clones have one aspect of their template’s personality. Thus, anywhere he's taken up residence also includes a room or two full of his stuff. Think like that Hoarders show but x 100.

Strangely enough, he does seem to have an extra quality that Starscream never really displayed. Perhaps because his greed includes the desire for fuel, Dirge has a bit of gluttony problem. He'll eat nearly anything he can get his hands on, whether or not it will provide any nourishment. He's constantly hungry- or he thinks he is- regardless of actual fuel levels.

Items on your character at canon point: Just his arm cannons.
Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses: General abilities include: Being able to turn into futuristic harrier jet and two sonic pulse cannons on his arms.
He is also powered by an all-spark shard, instead of a spark, which has the ability to revive him, should he die. I don’t know if you want to nerf that or what.
Weaknesses: He's very young and impressionable, and kind of limited in the brain department. He also tends to eat things he shouldn't.

Mun Name:   I-it’s Dirge actually. ;;; Yes, my nickname is the char I’m apping.  Lame, I know.
Journal:  It’s the one I’m posting with.
Contact Info:  My AIM is SixthClone
Other Characters: N/A

Name:  Dirge
From:  Transformers Animated
Appearance:  http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:Animateddirgeboxart.jpg  Dirge has the exact same body as Starscream- the only difference is his hideous teal and black paint job.
Age:   Techincally, since he’s a clone, his real age is somewhere around 1-3 years.  But Dirge has an adult body and, while lacking in experience, his mind is fully equipped with adult concepts as well.
Gender:  Not really gendered since he’s a robot, but he uses a male pronoun so… Male?
Personality: Dirge is the personification of Starscream’s greed.  He’s driven to forever seek out things to possesses- whether they be tangible or not-  and doomed to never be satisfied by any of it.  He’s incredibly passionate in his desire as well as impatient and prone to brash behavior.  He has even less of a moral code then the average decepticon because of his intensely selfish personality trait. He does have Starscream’s memories, but he doesn’t always understand them or even really know which ones to flag as important to pay attention to.  Because he has not been in the company of others of his species for very long Dirge is often interested in doing things that are viewed as improper or even disgusting by other Cybertronians.

Backstory:  Dirge isn’t old enough to have much of a backstory.  He is a clone that was created by Swindle along with his brother Thrust.  The official way he managed to do this is a little sparse, so I’ve filled it in with head canon that makes sense.  Starscream was keeping two protoforms and two slivers from his all-spark fragment set aside on his moonbase for activating later.  When he died, Swindle, being the little looter that he is, found the base and took the stuff, enabling him to create the two clones.  Dirge has been working on Swindle’s ship as one of his body guards since his creation.
Moral Standing:  Most would call him evil- probably because he is pretty much unable to think of anyone else but himself.  It’s not his fault, but it certainly doesn’t make him easy to be friends with.
Dreams:  Dirge literally wants /everything/.  His greed compels him to try and amass as many possessions as possible.  Probably his most important goal is the desire for satisfaction.  It frustrates him to no end that he can never get enough, when others are able to be happy with what they have.  Dirge also wants to be complete- since he only has a single personality fragment, he longs to be whole like his template, Starscream.  He believes that will render him not only able to experience satisfaction, but also able to function in society easier.

Fears:  Dirge fears losing things.  Worst of all, losing /everything/.  His self worth is pretty much based on what he has acquired.
Extra:  Since Dirge is powered by an all-spark fragment he technically cannot die.  If he is knocked offline, the fragment will revive him and repair the damage.  Depending on the severity of the injuries, it can take a few days.  I’m not sure how we want to handle that…
Character Location:  Dirge is just going to be sharing Swindle’s ship.

Name of Canon:  Transformers Animated
Canon/AU/Other Game CR:  Axiom
Reference:   http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Dirge_%28Animated%29  I’ve been playing him pre the Allspark Almanac that revealed they were created by Swindle and have cone heads.  I was using the toy bio which is simply the first part:  Dirge is a
Starscream clone, and like the other clones, represents an aspect of the original's personality... in this case, his implacable greed. No altitude is high enough, no amount of fuel is sufficient, and no grab for power will ultimately satisfy him. He lives only for what he doesn't yet have.

As for appearance, I was going on the toy bio pic which is at the bottom of the wiki page.

Canon Point:   Dirge was not in the show, but it is assumed he was created along with the other clones in Starscream’s wrecked ship on the Earth’s moon.   Everything else is Axiom game events.  The last thing Dirge remembers before being pulled from Axiom is obtaining a casino from his Universe’s Megatron.

Setting:

Transformers Animated is about a race of robotic aliens who live on the planet Cybertron and  have the ability to change their shape.  Transformation is limited to a root mode (robot) and an alt mode (usually some form of transportation).  Stagnation in their politics has caused a civil war between two self proclaimed factions; the Autobots and the Decepticons.  The Autobots are presented as the good guys, the faction that upholds law and order.  The Decepticons are the rebel rousers, the faction that wishes to topple the old regime. The series starts after the long war between the two has ended.  Good has triumphed over evil and Cybertronians are free once again to roam their home planet without fear of attack.  The Autobots- being the winners of this war- are now in charge and the remaining Decepticons have been exiled from their home planet.

Their leader, Megatron, is still alive and though the war has been deemed over, he is not ready to give up the fight.  While he has been gathering his strength, the Autobots have grown complacent and unprepared for a resurgence of battle.  Many young Autobots have not even seen a Decepticon in their lifetimes- whom are physically different from them in that they are a good bit bigger and usually maintain flight alt modes rather than ground transport.

Dirge’s creator, Starscream, was Megatron’s second in command.  His title was stripped from him when he attempted to assassinate Megatron in hopes of gaining command of the Decepticons.  Megatron did not die and he certainly wasn’t happy- thwarting the now rogue Starscream’s further attempts with continued ease.  Eventually, Starscream decided he needed an army if he was seriously going to continue to attack Megatron.  He gathered together enough parts to make several bodies- molded to look exactly like himself- and purchased a cache of protoforms (an element needed to fill the body armor).  Lastly, he brought them to life with pieces of the all-spark fragment that was lodged in his head.  The all-spark is what gives new Transformers life, usually by way of creating a spark (or soul).  In this case however, the all-spark’s broken fragments powered the bodies without affording them sparks- granting them a strange sort of immortality.  Because the clones were given pieces taken from the one currently powering Starscream, they were all given one aspect of his personality.

He does have Starscream’s memories, but he doesn’t always understand them or even really know which ones to flag as important to pay attention to.  Because he has not been in the company of others of his species for very long Dirge is often interested in doing things that are viewed as improper or even disgusting by other Cybertronians.

Abilities and Weaknesses:    Abilities:  Arm mounted laser guns, the ability to turn into a jet, the ability to consume and digest organic as well as inorganic material.

All Spark fragment- this one is tricky, because technically it grants him immortality.  He can be killed, but not permanently.  The fragment revives him and repairs the fatal damages.  This might not be so much of a problem, since no one really stays dead in rp games. ;;  But if you want to nerf it, you can just have the penalties of death for everyone else apply to him.  It will just be the shard that brings him back.

Weaknesses: Youth and inexperience, impulsiveness, driven by his desire to possess.

Inventory:  Dirge….carries a lot of things.  Probably too much to list- since its whatever he can fit in his subspace.  It’s mostly junk anyway.

Appearance:

Dirge has the exact same body as Starscream- the only difference is his hideous teal and black paint job.

Age:  Technically 3 years- but his body is that of an adult cybertronian and he has all of Starscream’s memories.

OC/AU Justification

If AU, how is your version different from canon, and how will that come across?

Axiom Nexus canon experience:  Dirge comes from Axiom Nexus- another dimension in which Cybertron has never been at war and the species has evolved into Transtechs- an amalgamate of technological and organic. Experience over time and small bits of guidance from other mechs has managed to calm Dirge somewhat.  He’s still insatiably greedy but he’s learned to be a little shrewd about it and how to prioritize his never ending list of wants.

Samples:

Log Sample:   Dirge was used to being punished if he’d done something wrong.

[The screen shows a disgruntled looking cybertronian jet crouched on a rooftop, his claws clicking on the railing, wings high on his back and twitching.]

That was very unwise of you.

[It’s unclear who he’s addressing- he’s just pointing at the camera.]

Mark my words, now that I’ve seen it, I /will/ find my way back to your treasure hoard.

[He folds his arms now, optics narrowed.]

Considering the fact that you’ve dragged me away from mine, I think it’s only fair that you replace it.
